review 1: This is the perfect blend of biography, history, science, and politics. Through Rocket Men we learn of the space race, using the Apollo 11 mission as the centerpiece of the narrative. Nelson takes us through rocketry in its earliest forms, through the guided missile programs of WWII, through the Cold War finale that was man landing on the moon. The writing is fantastic, and I can't recommend this book enough to any fans of science or 20th century history or politics.
review 2: A really great read broken into three parts. The first part is the lead up to launch, the second part is the impetus for why we went to the moon, and the third is the mission, and what happened after. With candid views and quotes from people on the inside of the program, this was a enjoya
... moreble read. Although it does bog down a little in the middle, it's well worth the time for this book. less
