review 1: Interesting. There was a lot of history of things going on other than Dickie Scruggs, but it was needed to help set what was happening in and around the country at that time. I was frustrated with the arrogance of the judges at the end. Yes, what the attorneys did was wrong, but in my opinion they allowed their emotions to get the best of them in the sentencing portion. I was frustrated with what I, in my laymens understanding, was considered entrapment. It felt like someone was out to get Dickie Scruggs. Although, when you do things wrong, you eventually have to pay for it.
review 2: Probably only interesting for those that live in Oxford, or that have connections to Ole Miss. Although I suppose that it could be interesting for lawyers, etc. as well. A
... moren interesting tale about the rise and fall of Dickie Scruggs. It sometimes reads almost like a research paper, just putting together a timeline, and sticking mainly with facts, very little prose, or conjecture. But there is some in some places. less

Fantastic book about greed, corruption and trial lawyers. There are no heros on this story.
