“There is no moving on when you’re truly in love. You try and you keep trying, but that love is a stain on your life. it’s just not that easy.”
Before you get to far, maybe I am missing it but the title has almost nothing to do with the title. But for my first Tarryn Fisher, I enjoyed it.
Ever since I read Never, Never two years ago I have been dying to read a Tarryn Fisher book. I really enjoyed her pieces of the story. I also follow her on Instagram and I just love her page. While I was not let down by Atheiests Who Kneel and Pray I was not completely excited about it. Overall, I enjoyed the story for what it was.
The book opens with the female character, Yara, receiving an email from her thought to be ex-husband, David, wanting to meet.
The story then goes back in time to when Yara and David first met. Where as a reader we learned that David is a musician looking for a muse and Yara is his music. Yara seems all too familiar with the task and she quickly explains how she has been through this before and knows how artists are. And how she does not want to go down that route again. She knows the only way for an artist to really thrive is to break their heart.
SPOILER. Yara decides to get into a relationship with David and ultimately breaks his heart. And David breaks hers.
Yara disappears shortly after their wedding and David does not see her for three years.
Personally, I was kind of annoyed with the way Yara left and why she left. I thought it to be petty since she comes across as being such a strong woman.
I think I am going to go back and read some of Tarryn Fisher’s first books because overall I was let down by this one.
