review 1: Disclaimer - I have not read the actual novel 'Tantalize' or any other books by Cynthia Smith.I received this graphic novel as a birthday present from a coworker last year. I personally stay away from werewolves and shifters as main characters. I've only read one other graphic novel, 'Dracula'. I enjoyed it more than I had expected. The illustrations in this book are all black & white. I couldn't even figure out what was going on in some of the boxes. I couldn't tell a couple of the characters apart. The story.... Where to begin? Kieren, a hybrid werewolf, is in love with Quincie, a human. Kieren can't control his shift so he stays away from Quincie, for her safety. Quincie starts spending time with Brad, a vampire. She starts treating Kieren like crap. She starts the tran... moresformation into a vampire; she just has to bite her first victim to complete the change. Kieren volunteers even though he knows that a vampire's first victim never lives. Kieren keeps talking about how he is leaving to join a wolf pack, but by the end of the book, he still hasn't left. There are other shifters in this story too: were-armadillo, were-opossum, were-bear, were-cat, and were-vultures. Really??Unfortunately, I probably will not read the actual novel after this story.
review 2: Ah! So I totally loved this!!! I loved Kieren from the first pages of Tantalize the novel. I was so happy when I found out Cynthia Leitich Smith was doing a take of Kieren's story. The sexy werewolf side as he watches Quincy's life spiral out of control from the side lines.I don't have too much to say about it other than I was really pleased they made the story and that I loved reading about how much Kieren loved Quincy even though he couldn't be around her often for her safety he was always looking out for her.Oh best scene ever had to be when Kieren found out his best friends raided Quincy's house and went through her underwear drawer. hehe hilarious to see! less
