review 1: The best I can say is the book kept me remotely interested with its plot premise. People were brainwashed to kill another person, then to kill themselves. The characters were one dimensional, almost cardboard cutouts. One of the more interesting ones was killed off early on. This book had one of the most terrible endings I have ever read! I was so shocked when it ended so abruptly, I was angry at myself for reading the whole thing. Too many questions were left unanswered, and the process used to affect the victims was left pretty nebulous. No satisfaction as to what was going to happen to the main characters in the future. The writing, in general, was OK, but I wish I hadn't wasted my valuable reading time on this one.
review 2: This is a nice basic zombie book,
... more with a bit of a twist. It was fun while it lasted, but it just leaves too much unanswered for a proper ending. The twists are a good ride, but at times the authors leave you scratching your head thinking, is THAT what you want me to believe? Maybe he's setting it up for a franchise series.Maybe I expect too much from a zombie thriller. But the ploy motive sort of falls flat after building up a nice head of curiosity in the reader.I got the feeling that his publisher told him to finish the story NOW! Or ELSE!The authors have likeable and relate-able characters, but he doesn't do a lot with them. A couple of Brits in the US for the first time? So much potential goes by the wayside. A bit gory for the kids, but it is a zombie story! It read as more of a short story. Not bad for a poolside book to leave at the hotel. less

A wonderful original concept in the beginning falls flat in the last act. What a waste of potential.

It was well written, but the lack of ending just ruined it all.
