Men of Holsum College
review 1: Owen is the popular guy no one can say no to. Harold is awkward and shy. But when Owen sees what Harold is hiding underneath his baggy clothes, Owen wants to find out more about him. In this latest installment of the Holsum College series, Daisy Harris serves up another fun, sexy, smart romance that leaves the reader breathless and happy and panting for more. She captures the joy, intensity, and insecurity of young love without being maudlin or predictable. It's a delicious treat as always.
review 2: 3/5I love The Men of Holsum College. They’re light, fun reads and generally they’re pretty hot too. These books are a guilty pleasure for me and I won’t even try to justify them. I like them dammit! That being said, this one wasn’t my favorite.I laughed whe
... moren I first read the blurb. The big issue in this book is that Harold has a giant cock, which he hates. He was ridiculed for it throughout high school and is very self-concious about it. He knows he is 100% gay but has never even kissed another guy. He knows no man in his right mind would ever choose someone as large as him. He can’t imagine any guy wanting a dork with a giant penis, especially not the hot guy down the hall.Owen knows he likes guys. It’s just that he has never wanted one enough to make the social consequences worth it. At least that’s the case until he meets Harold. Yes, the giant penis is what grabs his attention at first but he also really likes the guy it’s attached to.The story wasn’t quite as frivolous as I expected. I could understand that entering into a relationship with Harold would be a big step for Owen. I also got why Harold had some reservations about being with Owen. He knew Owen might one day regret his decision to be with Harold. Owen would be giving up a large part of the sexaul opportunities most gay men expect and enjoy. I liked Harold and Owen. I could see that they genuinely wanted to be together, but there was good reason to be worried for both of them. Those obstacles to their relationship created enough angst for me. I did not need the misunderstanding and uncertainty they had later on in the book. I lost some interest while that was going on. It’s not a long book, so that wasn’t too much of an issue. The bottom line for is that I wasn’t as pulled into this book as much as I usually am. It’s a good story and an enjoyable read, just not as good as some of the previous books in the series. less
