review 1: Not bad. Not bad at all. This is a genre and scenario that has been done many times before, some better and some definitely worse. Ex special forces or CIA, or both in this case, brought out of retirement or working as private mercenary to fight the bad guys. The bad guys in this case once again are Al-Qaeda. The main character, Kolt Raynor is the head strong, bend the rules till it hurts expert extraordinaire operator. It's all been done before and Dalton Fury (is that his real name?) does it again in an exciting and entertaining way. I'll pick up his next book if I come across it.
review 2: Be patient with this book. It's a nice, quick, easy read that will grab your attention around page 50-60. The plot almost takes too long to develop, but it goes really f
... moreast once it does. The author takes too long to tell you what the Black Site is and what it has to do with the book. The action scenes are fast-paced and very well written. Character development is lacking and at the point in Kolt's "career" it doesn't seem plausible to me that he'd be picked for this type of mission. It would be black-ops or a team. I'll probably pick up his sequel, but this one is not bad for a first fiction from an author. Probably closer to a 3.5, but given some of the really good stuff I read that I give a 4 to, I just can't put this one along side them. less
