review 1: Mr. Harrison is Emabrrisn’! is a part of the My Weirder School series. These books take place at Ella Mentary school. It is a funny book and easy to read for young students. It is engaging for both boys and girls. I would recommend this book for 1-3 grade. It is important to know that there is name calling in the book and making fun of other people. Before you introduce these books to children, I would make them aware of the name calling and explain to students that while they read this in the story it is not nice and should never be used in real life. The books are very funny though. It can be used a read aloud and to get students interested in reading. Since this book is a series it allows the students to find a lot of books that they enjoy rea... moreding.
review 2: Ok, this was pretty clever, with the Beatles references, and it was entertaining. My kids love this series. It's actually quite funny, but there's a lot of name calling (like dumbhead), and kids making fun of each other (similar to the other books in this series)...stuff that isn't a great role model for kids. But it really appeals to elementary aged boys, and it's easy to read, and this series was the first one to get Timothy reading regularly, so I can appreciate its value in being something kids can relate to. There's a lot of humor that's typical with these books, kids taking idioms really literally, kids having funny suspicions about teachers, etc. less
