review 1: If I were to review this book at the halfway mark, I would've given it about 3 stars.Jett is so arrogant and thinks he can manipulate and bend everyone to his will including the sweet Haven who he is instantly drawn to. For some reason, I was really captivated by this book, the gentle way Pratola sets a scene and describes the characters really draws you in. It's cleverly written and I love the sub plot (the dark underworld of child sex slavery that Jett is caught up in) and storyline twists (the other characters like Haven's grumpy dad and the people of 'Master's' mansion) too. This was a wholesome, tender romance novel as opposed to the gritty, take-your-clothes-off-in-the-second-chapter stuff I'm used to reading.There's part of me that dreams of finding the kind of guy... more who Jett becomes, -and being strong and discerning enough to keep my wits about me like Haven does. Thanks for an awesome page-turner Dana! I highly recommend this book to anyone who believes in the 'supernatural' true love, the stuff that is possible through God who promises us the desires of our heart.
review 2: Wow ... not your typical Christian novel, actually, not your typical anything. This book was unique from the first chapter. For some reason, I opened this up on my Kindle Fire even though I'm in the middle of several other books. Once I started, the others took the backseat. A paranormal love story like none other, Descended provides a number of twists, turns, and temptations that I didn't see coming. I've always believed God can and does bestow very special gifts. Are they the same as Jett's? I have no idea, though I remain open to Him doing anything with us. I read this book straight through. My only complaints, I felt Haven accepted all of Jett's "special skills" a tad too easily, and the book ended so abruptly. Maybe I was just sad it was over. Despite those two tiny "issues," the story was fantastic and highly deserving of 5 stars. Would love to read more about Haven and Jett. Part two anyone? Please ...? less
