review 1: I like this book because of how instructional it is without being preachy. I can't even count how many cautionary tales it includes. And because of the perspective of the narrator, it gives insight into how one person's decisions can affect another person's life so deeply. The choices we make don't affect only ourselves – they ripple through the lives of our loved ones. Disturbing and unsettling subject matter, but an important one. You only have to watch the 5 o'clock news to know it's relevant.
review 2: Nell is incredibly excited to enter high school, as finally she will be back in the same building with her sister, Layla, her role model and, for all intents and purposes, other half. Layla, however, begins to mysteriously withdraw from Nell, and eventually
... more Nell realizes that she is running into the arms of her young art teacher, who may very well have a predilection for teenage girls. I actually felt that this novel stopped at the most interesting part of the story, which I won't spoil. I will just say that the book seems to be about the run-up to a cataclysmic shifting in the relationship between the two sisters, but doesn't quite get there. It would have been really interesting for Reinhardt to explore the aftermath; I feel as if the story would have gained a lot more depth. less

I wish there would have been a real ending. Other than that, I enjoyed it. it was a quick read.

Didn't really like this book, kind of disappointed I didn't really get the point of it.

A tautly written, absorbing, and emotionally honest story.
