review 1: This was good, the pot stirs quicker. I've figured out that GoT is basically one long fantasy soap opera with more blood. Not necessarily a bad thing, but that's what it is. I'll just take up this issue. I'm realizing the books have identity problems. The characters all look the same and their names are too hard to follow. The books need a map which might help since the names are always tied to places. That would slow me down but at least I'd be able to keep track of everyone. The problem is there's no exposition for who's who. I've seen bits and pieces of the original novel and it's not much better, it gives tons of exposition, almost to an overload. That's been my impression anyway. I'm rooting for team Dothraki/Drogo who I want to kick some pretty little Lannister trash... more. I would root for the Starks who are awesome but they don't have a chance in hell of getting through this unless something changes.
review 2: This going to sound a bit redundant. I still love Gsme of Thrones and thought the textual adaptation was good but darn it I still don't like the artwork. In addition to weird angles, the characters in this edition are posed really weird. It's like the author doesn't really know what to do with their arms so he just has the characters hold them up. In addition they also some weird expressions in this one too. Mostly "mad" faces when I think he was trying to achieve serious. The use of light is also pretty irritating because it is so dark at times that the artistry can muddled. There's one more book to this series. I might read it once my library gets it but I wouldn't cry too hard if I missed it. less
