review 1: The best part about Fevre Dream is the art. It's lush, well-drawn and coloured. The story leaves a lot to be desired. You need infer quite a bit of what's going on, which normally isn't a problem, but sometimes leaves gaps in the story. It left me feeling like this would be a great novel.There's more gore in this than I'm really comfortable with, but that's personal preference. It is a graphic *vampire* novel, after all, and these are not cuddly teddies with long teeth.
review 2: After finishing The Game of Thrones series, I struggled to find something adventurous and entertaining. I have read some very good books since then, but there always seemed to be Something missing. Martin's writing style just sucks you in and holds you rapt..much like the blood maste
... morer in Fevre Dream. I have read a number of vampire novels from Anne Rice to the Sookie Stackhouse series and yes, even the Twilight series. Fevre Dream is much more than that. Martin's characters are so beautifully human and flawed. I wish my bookclub had chosen this novel for our October Thriller, less

a good adaptation of the novel. the art was good and the story followed the book very well.
