review 1: They meet. They fuck. No build up or tension or getting to know the characters. At this point they both just seem like slurs.Skip two weeks with no contact between sluts. A quick phone call and they are meeting for sex, again. Have sex, treats him like a whore. Nothing else at all has happened besides some boring inner dialogue of the old and bitter Mc.Two more weeks of just sex hook ups. Know little about bitter old queen just random unexplained details dropped. Know nothing about twink except he talks too much and mc doesn't like listening to him and he is really slutty. The nick is also Nico thing confused me. I kept getting confused which of his personalities he was in and why he had to think out situations in how nico would handle versus how nick would. Mentions a wif... moree and divorce but not why they divorced or why the daughter hates himWow Sam's an idiot. Worst birthday gift ever. Amongst all the sex they had a quick birthday dinner to show after months of just sex they obviously don't know each other at all. I see absolutely no chemistry between these guys. If this story wasn't so short I would have just not finished it. Of course you know this will all work out and nick will be made into an even bigger asshole. Yep after their dinner argument became quite clear no chemistry or anything between them besides sex and they don't know each other at all. Slutty twink and old man who is embarrassed by the twink bore me. Of course one email from the daughter who it's never explained why she hates him in the first place and all is instantly forgiven and right in the world. The mc is also an idiot. He is 37. Twink is 23. Daughter is 17. He had to do the math to figure out twink his closer to his daughters age then his. The twins age, that he's a slut, and that he rides the motorcycle is the most information you get about him.
review 2: Nick and Sam were all right, though the progression of the story meant that a lot of growth in their relationship was only vaguely touched upon, and things therefore felt like they moved a little fast. I didn't like the subplot with the daughter, which was pretty much glossed over and made Nick look kind of awful (Why did he think she hated him? Why did his pride prevent him from sending her birthday stuff?) until it came time for the happy ending to roll around. I knocked the rating down a couple stars because I'm just SO TIRED of the bitchy (homophobic) ex-wife character. She's such a overdone, stock antagonist. People divorce for a million reasons, and there's really no need to fall back on the same trite 'my wife is a cold-hearted harpy who hates me for being gay and she's frigid and probably has perfect makeup and long manicured nails, because they always do!' nonsense. It's not only borderline-offensive; it's boring. less
