review 1: I love Danny Wallace as a writer , he is always original thoughtful and relates interesting topics , sometimes off the wall ideas, in a way that makes you want to partake in them with him. This has been the case in both his fiction and non fiction meanderings . This book is no exception although I found this novel a little more melancholy than his previous writings. His characters are immensely true to life and either loveable or loathsome but never bland . Mr Wallace has become a real pleasure I look forward to reading , whatever the subject. I wish his tv forays had been longer and more in keeping with his own wonderful take on life and the way it should be lived. His lust for life and the way he enthuses over his current topics is infectious and long may he continue to... more spread his work around in whatever medium he chooses .
review 2: This took me a ridiculous amount of time to read (4 weeks!). Not because I didn't enjoy it, but because of other things going on in my life while I read it. Even though I read this in small chunks here and there, and had to keep checking who characters were when they only appeared occasionally and I'd forgotten their name, I really enjoyed this. It was very relevant to everything going on in my life at this time. And I know it's probably not what I'm meant to take away from this book, but I actually tried following someone at one point and it lead to a pretty rewarding outcome. So, thanks Danny Wallace for the idea. less
