review 1: Sorry! I didn't like it .toooo many twists. Ok we all know how politicians are. So many pages to prove the fact that although the crime had nothing to do with the elections , the politicians interfered and ruined the investigation to cover "spots on their reputation" . So if it wasn't the election period it would be easy to nail the murderer. Bla bla bla .... I m sure it was ok for a television crime mystery but it was a boring book. And oh!!! Although I usually do not find the murderer, on this one I had the whole idea of what happened since page 300.
review 2: By far, one of the best noir mysteries. I love Hewson's Nic Costa series, and this rewrite of a Danish TV series is top shelf. Hewson writes in a very spare style which suits his very unusual main cha... moreracter, Sarah Lund. She is obviously at the far, high functioning end of autism. She is singularly focused, intelligent and tenacious. And she is mostly oblivious to the emotional streams that surge around her. It is not at all that she doesn't care, it's just that the puzzle of the case is so much more riveting. And she is so much better able to deal with death than with life. less
