review 1: I received a copy of this book for free from a goodreads giveaway. Overall it was a good book and i could tell the author knew his stuff. I guess it wasn't really my type because i never really got into it and took me a few day to read it! Someone starts killing members of a secret CIA branch ( more secret than the regular CIA because it has no ties to the government and their money does not come from the state ) and Sophie Marx is the agent supposed to figure out what is going on. I didn't like her a lot so that might be why i didn't enjoy the book so much!!! She starts out ok but towards the end she seems to change from someone that does what needs to get done no matter what danger she is in to someone that is very scared. That would be ok in a regular persons case but s... morehe is a trained CIA officer and on top of it she knows what she's getting into and chooses to ignore the danger just to become very scared as soon as she is in danger!! I don't want to say more so i don't ruin the book for anyone!! Like i said i think this a very good writer and if you love this type of books i think you would enjoy it!!!
review 2: I usually find David Ignatius' columns in the Washington Post interesting and informative about Middle East events and policy. This was the first time I read one of his novels (although I saw the Body of Lies movie). As an espionage thriller it moves along quickly and has some intriguing characters, both US and Pakistani, that capture your attention. Ignatius presents a feasible scenario about the tenuous US-Pakistani relationship and why this realm of the world is complex and ponderous. Worth reading another Ignatius novel. less

Audiobook: Great female heroine. Would have liked more action: shooting, car chases, etc.
