review 1: I gave a rather luke warm review of Hater as it just didn't click for me ~ there might have been better ways to show the spread of the haters rather than just violent snap shots. I don't know, randomness was part of the story but doesn't work well with me as structure.Anyways, Dog Blood is a tighter story, more concise, just better. Danny has grown and developed .. as much as you could ask of a Hater/Zombie...And just like a really good story that leads into another, I'm anxious to start the next book to see what happens.
review 2: The second in the Hater series, Dog Blood follows Hater Danny McCoyne as he travels with other Haters in search for his daughter, Ellis, another child member of the Changed. She is currently being held by her mother, Lizzie, a memb
... moreer of the Unchanged. This book contains just as much action and violence as the first and, like the last novel, mixes philosophy with the hatred/violence. What makes a person "Changed"? What makes a person "Unchanged"? Is it possible for a "Changed" person to have any humanity? Is it possible for an "Unchanged" human to lose his/hers? And, at the end, I found myself thinking...why can't these two groups coexist or, at least, live separately but alive? I also found myself thinking about the diversity that could exist among zombies. We think of zombies as all the same but, here, that notion is challenged. Just as there would be diversity in a human race, there would be diversity in a "zombie"(?) race. So, while second books in a series tend to prove pointless, this one is a good one. Towards the end of the novel, it did drag a bit. I found myself thinking..."Just find the girl, already!". But, it did get there eventually. The violence is a little hard to take - especially when you remember this is people they are talking about and people being attacked. It's just something that you never get used to - which is probably good. less

The second in the trilogy was just as good as the first. The hunt for Danny's daughter is intense.

This book would have been better if the author didn't repeat himself so many times.

Okay, it's still not that great, but I've got to know what happens!
