review 1: Nevermore is beautiful written and is a haunting tale woven with wonderful characters and an interesting plot. This book is broken into two parts, and I read the first part over the course of a week. I found it interesting, engaging but not overly so and so I put the book down at the midway point, which could have been a bad sign. However, the other night I picked up the book again right before bed time and was immediately engrossed in the second half to the point I could not sleep until I finished the book. The descriptive language of the author had me in the forest/swamp with the characters, feeling their parts as I read along. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. Excellent story telling and character development and the ending was exactly what I wanted - no selling the chara... morecters short but still satisfying the experience itself.Definitely highly recommend this book.
review 2: Nevermore: A Tale of Love, Loss, & Edgar Allan Poe3.75 StarsA very good read for a stormy day. Curl up next to a fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate (Or adult beverage our your choice) and read about tails within tails. Americana gothic tails. "Dreams within dreams". I love the concept of taking a poem or folklore and elaborating a story from it. This novella was unique in that the author incorporated elements of Poe’s writings with parts of his legend and artifacts his life as well. Nevermore left me hungering to read more from the author, re-read Poe, read more novels based on poems or maybe even write one of my own. And that's what stories are all about sometimes right? To stoke the imagination? less
