review 1: It's clear from the start that Phillip Krantz has some sort of vendetta out for the Kepperman family, and why is revealed soon enough. What kept me from giving this 5 stars is that a part of the 'reason' for vendetta that is revealed late in the book is downright stupid and unnecessary. In fact, I think it weakens the story overall and good editors should have removed it. But, the other 95% of the book is tautly suspenseful and a great game of cat and mouse.
review 2: Wow! The Bet was a thriller in the real sense of the word. The book was actually a bit more hard core than I typically read, but I got sucked in with the prologue and couldn’t put it down. It was a good mix of edge-of-your-seat action, with just enough relief tossed in to come up for air bef... moreore plunging right back in. Great twisted story line, and really well written. Easy to recommend this one. Bet on it! less
