review 1: Joe Spud, a boy who his father got rich from toilet paper, the kid who walk around with a fortune in his pockets. Joe goes to the top richest kids school in England. It's where great kings and minsters graduated. But unfortunately he hates it due to the fact that he gets teased because his dad did not get rich from something pleasant. He left the school and went to a public school where he did not give anyone his identity. On the first day he had a marathon and there he met Bob who Joe bribed to win second last. Then they became friends and Joe then told Bob about who he is. Bob got mad because he felt betrayed. But then Joe's dad got broke and he moved with Bobs family with his father too because they took everything even the clothes. So then Bobs mom and Joes dad were to... moregether in school and she used to bake some Shepard pie. So later they got married
review 2: Billionaire Boy is the very amusing tale of Joe Spud, who thanks to his father's inventionof revolutionary toilet paper, has more money than we can possibly imagine. It's an excellent mix of humour and simple morality - not always easy to combine.I liked the fact that although the story is ostensibly about Joe and his money,it's the adults who are fallible with money, not so much the children. There are plenty of laugh out loud moments and Walliams has transferred his comedic wit successfullyto children's literature. It makes children and adults laugh alike. Although the style of writing would be suitable for 8-11 readers I would exercise some caution,as some of the language and themes are a little incongruous for the age group.Joe's Dad starts a relationship with a glamour model, there's talk of breast enlargements, and the word 'slag' is used. I'm a fan of Quentin Blake's artwork and his illustrations add to the story, as ever, bringing it to life. The story includes bullying, divorce, friendship, so there's plenty of scope forchildren to discuss their reaction to the moral issues raised in the book. less
