review 1: I'm really fond of David Wellington's writing. I'll blame him for my dips into the horror side of modern fantasy, with his zombie and vampire series. I remember liking and being excited about his first werewolves novel as well....though that was a long time ago. Once I started to remember the characters, I found this one to also be excellent. Coupled with what we see of the history of the world in his vampire series, this presents a weird and unique world. I'm looking forward to whatever he writes next.
review 2: Ah yes the sequel to the book that I loved so much, and it goes a step further and becomes slightly better than the book that came before. but that's understandable considering how much effort the first book has to go to establish the setting much les
... mores get a good story across. However I quite enjoyed the ending the most, it hurt and that's the great part about it. One of the two books I have in my mind that can make me cry and this was one of them. I know all about shaggy dog stories but when they're done well they give an impressively powerful downer ending that I enjoy immensely.I do hope Wellington does revisit the series when his obligations are finished with his other books. less

I enjoyed this book, but it was sometimes hard to follow the plot and switching from wolf to human

Loved the first nations / first people mythology mixed in with this story, quite lovely.

It was ok, a bit slow, but the end left it wide open. Now have to read the next one.
