review 1: I read this book as a light break between others - and really enjoyed it. The characters are all given very distinct voices, which I very much appreciated (so many authors fail to give their characters much difference in tone or style of writing or speaking!) and I felt like they were real. I found Mo's descriptions of self and of aging quite funny and wanted to shake Dora on more than one occasion and adored Peter / Oscar, who was, despite his eccentricities, the most together of the bunch. I've read that other people thought the twist was obvious - I didn't, and was quite entertained by it. Would recommend - but only to those who don't mind wading through teenage LOL-speak and adapted Wildean-speak for a good story!
review 2: Unlike all the terrible reviews I
... more've read about this one I actually liked it. It's not the most amazing book ever written but if you're curled up on the couch listening to the rain having a lazy day then this book is a nice little thing to nibble on as you drink your tea. There are 3 main characters, all in the same family, all having melt downs at crucial turning point ages of their lives. It's all written as if it were pages out of their diaries. Nothing overly amazing, no super powers, no life or death moments. It's like reading a bit of Eastenders. Just a story about an average English family doing ... stuff, sometimes over dramatically, like normal families do. If you like British humor then it's right up your ally. If not, give it a miss. less

What a load of rubbish. No real story as such. Simply a family diary. Boring
