review 1: It's really hard for me to dislike any Highlander romance considering that my best book boyfriend is Jamie Fraser. This book is a really fun hot read that is great for the holidays but also if you just want a quick Scottish romance without a ton of history or paranormal fairy legends or time travel thrown in. If the author hadn't made it clear that Aileen and Niall had known each other for a long, long time, I probably would have had a very hard time going with the flow and accepting that they felt so intensely about each other, but the setup of their romance and relationship and incredible chemistry was perfect. There was a good amount of action in the book to be consistent with other Scottish Highlander romances. I would have loved to have seen a little more descriptions... more of the scenery since that is what I enjoy the most about books set in Scotland, but overall this was a fun sexy read that I enjoyed a lot.
review 2: I would give this more along the line of 3 or 3.5 stars, but giving it a 4 to be nice.The book was ok, not great not bad, but one I will probably forget all about.The lady of the story falls in love with her brother's guard, but she is a widow and about to be betrothed again. Her first husband was horrible, mean and very abusive. Her new husband is not much better.This book contains lots and lots of sex. The author is not afraid of the use of language at all.Typical Highlander storyline. Lady falls in love, the man falls in love- but leaves as the honorable thing. Lady is kidnapped. But here, she defends herself and escapes on her own, but man in love does find her and they live happily ever after. less
