Vampires in America
review 1: Rough start to a series. I didn't really enjoy the characters in the beginning, and I didn't really know why Cyn and Raphael ended up loving each other. In no point in this book was I persuaded that they were in love. However, the world building and the plot was interesting enough to keep reading. I was not fond of the way this book ended with a cliffhanger. Thank goodness I already have the second book or I would not be a happy camper.
review 2: Being a diehard Black Dagger Brotherhood fan (both the brothers and the author), I was skeptical about this series. But, I really liked this first book once I made myself understand that Raphael was NOT a Brother but a cool dude in his own right. I liked the female protagonist as well (Cynthia) as she is a strong,
... more capable and independent woman. What I did NOT like about her was her height and that's a personal dislike--I like shorter women (primarily because I'm only 5'3" and I like to think of myself as capable and strong in a small package). This is a good read to introduce us to the 'gang' and to the, I'm pretty sure, evolving story of Cynthia and Raphael. While the writing is not as strong or powerful as BDB, the story is well conceived and interesting. It will be interesting to see where we go from here. I'm in. less

Read this novel based on a member of my street team. It was definitely an interesting take on "Vampires in America." it was less paranormal then I thought it would be. Felt very realistic and less far fetched. I really enjoyed the main character Cynthia. She was a tough as nails, hard ass chick who ate men for breakfast. Her heart barely started to thaw when the book ended. Her itchy relationship with Raphael the king of the vampires on the West Coast was interesting, heated, and agnsty. By the end though, I really wasn't sure where the couple ended so I'd classify it as a cliffhanger. Heat level is around a 6.5 out of 10.

This is going to be a great new series. Raphael is the Lord of vampires. Sure there are Lords of other areas but none compare to his power. Cyn is a private investigator that Raphael has hired to find a missing vampire. Raphael is definitely the dominant vampire but Cyn is not to be controlled. She doesn't take crap from anyone and will speak her mind. This is just the beginning of the heat between them. They are just hot together. On to book 2.Thank you BelleBooks and NetGalley for ARC.
