review 1: This is the sequel to Dying Bites, about an FBI profiler kidnapped into an alternate reality to track down a human serial killer. The deal is she can go back home when she catches the killer. But in this book, she has to take a hiatus from that task to investigate a very weird murder, that turns out to have a connection to comic books. There is a clever idea that if created a certain way, comic books can be vehicles of magic, growing stronger as they are read by more and more people. But I found the execution of this idea rather obtuse and convoluted (rather like a Criminal Minds obsession), so I didn't pay that much attention to the details. I did like most of the characters, especially Charlie and the African Queen.
review 2: 3,5 stars! Im really liking
... morethese books. The milieu is interesting, the heroine is a badass in a good way, the writing is witty and 1 000 extra points for the ... ummm... godweres. I love the idea of dogs turning into humans due to a were bite. There were a few parts in which I didn't really follow the logic and that were left hanging a bit loosely, but they didn't bother me too much. Nothing more to say really, I can recommend this fully! :-) less

Brilliant. I've read over 200 books this year and this series is at the top.
