review 1: Has your world been turned upside down by just one little thing, maybe even a family member? Scarlets life was turned upside down by her sister Juliet's sudden reappearance in her life. The Six Rules of Maybe by Deb Caletti follows Scarlet Hughes life as she faces many problems that a normal 16 year old would not have to go through until their older years. Scarlet is not your average 16 year old. She rather stay home and watch netflix than go out and party with people that she may not even like. Her sister,Juliet, shows up with her husband and the news that she is pregnate. This shocks Scarlet and her mother. Hayden, Juliet's husband, is a handsome man with a dog named Zeus. Scarlet immediatly falls in love with him. When I say "him" I don't mean Zeus, I'm talking ab... moreout Hayden. How can she fall in love with her sisters husband!? How can she face her sister when the only person she cares about is Hayden? Scarlet knows that Hayden is going to be a great father to Jitter, Juliet's baby, but Scarlet doesn't believe that her own sister is ready to take on caring for another persons life. Scarlet is terribly torn because she wants Jitter and Hayden to herself, and yet she loves Hayden enough to want what makes him the most happy. Anyone who has faced a problem in life that changed their life forever would enjoy this book. The Six Rules of Maybe will remind you that you are not the only person who has had to face life changing events. Anyone looking for a quick read would enjoy this book. The characters are well thought out with very different characterists to each. Overall the novel kept my attention to the book and not everything going on in the world around me. It was a quick read that was very enjoyable.
review 2: A main character you can relate to, a real sense of conflict, and a whole lot of personal growth and awareness saved this book from the yawning chasm of impending doom and a writing style so morose I felt like I was drowning for the whole 4 hours it took me to read it. If this book had more cheerfulness and humor to accompany the largeness of its insecurity, immaturity, and selfishness, I would have enjoyed it a lot more. less

Has great emotion in a beautiful tale, yet it needs to go deeper.
