review 1: Very disapponted! I usually like Debbie Macomber's books but I Left My Heart didn't float my boat despite being set in San Francisco. I didn't like the main characters of either story and if I can't identify with the main character in some way I can't like a book no matter how good the writing The book is actually two reissues of early Harlequin novels which explains a lot The first book was actually a little better than the second although I wasn't thrilled with Elizabeth's selfish deceitful behavior. Carrie drove me crazy with her insecure melodrama. It went way too long and honestly I came close to not finishing it and I rarely don't complete a book. I can understand why Carrie couldn't get a man with her rudeness and running hot and cold on her feelngs. I'm surpris... moreed Shane even gave her a second look. If I had read this book way back when I don't think I would ever have read any of hrr other books which would be a shame because she really is a good writer even though this book is not a good example of her work.
review 2: This book contains two romantic stories set in San Francisco. The first story deals with a young woman dealing with the death of her mother and trying to get on with her own life. Visiting San Francisco, a city her mother loved, she finds herself taking a waitressing job, making a new friend and falling in love. There's a twist in the romance but all works out well in the end. In the second story there's a young woman who is a talented artist and is selling a painting she has done of her sister (twins but not identical). The young woman sees herself as a plain jane while her sister is beautiful and commands attention. The artist is sort of introduced to the buyer of the painting and is attracted to him but does not believe he can be hers if he is obsessed with the woman in the painting. This leads the man, who does not know what is going on, around in circles as the artist's attitude about him changes constantly. Once again things turn out alright in the end. less
