review 1: Starting Now is another hit by Debbie Macomber. Blossom Street is alive and well. The yarn shop keeps gaining friends and knitters. Little does Libby Morgan know how her life is going to change as she enters her boss’s office thinking she is going to be made partner in the law firm. Her hopes are completely dashed when instead, she is terminated due to downsizing. Although she is a fantastic lawyer and has many billable hours, she hasn’t brought in any new clients. She has devoted her life to her job. So, after six years, she has no job, no friends, and no life. Where is she going from here? She has to start over and the law firms she calls are laying off people instead of hiring. She has sent her resume to many firms and has had several interviews but she is e... moreither too well educated for the job or not a good fit. One day she has lunch with her only friend and goes with her to A Good Yarn. When her friend goes back to work, Libby stays in the shop and begins knitting camps for preemies. Here she meets Casey and Ave, two thirteen year old girls who will change her life. What will life bring for Libby? review 2: This book felt really dumbed down and read more like a child's novel. The characters' dialogue is totally unrealistic and made me cringe repeatedly.I felt no connection to any of the characters and couldn't sense any sort of emotional connection between them. Everyone was way too "goody goody." Interesting characters are not either black or white...they're gray, and in this novel I got that everyone was only white.I would not recommend this novel to someone who likes a little interest in their reading. less
