review 1: I read this book as part of a book group and love the idea of giving generously. Unfortunately, I feel that the book was ok in theory but not written well. In my opinion, a lot of the book was the author patting herself on the back for good deeds she and her family had sone. There were examples of others acts of generosity but she didn't inspire others. She did include biblical quotes and referenced other authors with similar opinions on giving. Sadly, it was the mostly the same examples and same feeling that I could find in almost any daily inspirational quote. I've never ready any of her other books and expected that she could do so much more.I did meet with the book group and many of the examples were pointed out of things that we could all do. Some of the exampl... morees in the book were ones we had all heard before. One person commented that we could read almost the exact same things in the guidepost or upper room books. I have to agree. The book was ok
review 2: ONE SIMPLE ACT by Debbie Macomber has much impact for such a small volume. Ms Macomber shares brilliantly simple ideas that will help anyone, rich, poor, or in between, be able to be generous and make a difference.Included are many anecdotes, tips, and inspiration. Many require only caring and forethought. This has got to be one of my favorite motivational books. I so recommend that everyone take the time for this quick read and adopt at least one idea. It will not only touch someone’s life, but make a big difference in your own. less
