review 1: Well written paranormal romance novel. I'm not crazy about romance novels. If they are well written, and have a good hook though, I'm in. I do love Baba Yaga, and using her as a basis for the character, brilliant and the right hook to make me put put down money and try it. I really enjoyed it, the romance was enjoyable and was more background that upfront. Though the romance did propel our characters forward in their personnel development forward, without being obnoxious. The supporting characters were great, the action compelling, though it did drag out a bit. These opinions are of course, subjective. I felt the book was worth what I paid, and I look forward to buying more of this writer's work.
review 2: This book benefited by circumstance in my case. I reall
... morey needed something light after reading two very dark non-fiction works. I won't do it any disservice by trying to say that's the only reason I liked it. This is a well done book and I really enjoyed it. The benefit is that I finished it the day after I bought it. This was a very quick read.I had fun with this re-tooling of the legend of Baba Yaga. It made it enjoyable and accessible to see an older type character in a modern setting. There was a lot of fun to be had here.Yes, there were things that were extremely convenient to put it mildly. I over looked those in favor a the light quick read. I don't know if I believe the characters as much as some other books I've read, but when I thought about the sheriff the only person I could see was the sheriff from the TV show Eureka. It worked.SPOILERS!My biggest issue was right at the end. The queen of Otherworld should have been far more cunning and devious. I would have liked it much better if the answers had been her suggestion and the main characters simply witnesses. She seemed to have huge power, but no guile and I don't buy that for a minute.I was really hoping to see a little more of the action. I suppose the riders in action will be in other books. The end was really convenient, and I'm OK with that. I think a little more explaining around evidence or something would have helped. I'm very, very glad the children were returned no worse for wear. All in all - very enjoyable. less

It kind of fell apart at the end, but up until that it was a fantastic new Paranormal Romance start.
