Beautifully illustrated with Debra’s own photographs and chock full of smart design tips and growing information, Succulent Container Gardens is a useful resource no matter where you garden because the focus is on containers, which can be protected in freeze-prone zones.I learned much from this book, including how to match a pot to a succulent’s form or markings; how closely to space succulents in containers; what materials make good top-dressing for container plantings; how to propagate succulents; and how to create floral-style succulent arrangem... moreents.
review 2: I bought this after having Baldwin's "Designing with Succulents' at the ready as we totally redesigned our Southern California garden with succulents. 'Succulent Container Gardens' did not disappoint. I read the last chapter first so I'd know HOW to create a viable succulent container and then started from the front and am working my way forward. Many of her designs are not the simple elegance I prefer, but all of her designs are labeled with genus, species, variety and allow me to buy and create my own style in a sustainable fashion. I highly recommend this book to beginners and advanced gardeners interested in potting up and displaying succulents! less
