review 1: في البداية أحببت القصة، لكني أخطأت في الحكم، صحيح أن موضوعها رائع لكن أسلوب الكاتبة يتميز بالتفلسف بلا فائدة هي قصة "ماتيلد" عاملة في شركة الإعلانات، كانت الدراع الأيمن لـمديرها اللدي كان يعاملها مند سنوات كشريكة في الـمؤسسة بباريس، لكنه تغير فجأة، أصبح يـمنعا من التدخل في أمور الشركة، ولا يـخبرها عن الإجتماعات، حتى أنه غير مكان مكتبها ووضعه أمام بيت الخلاء، خسار قصة رائعة لولا الأسلوب و النهاية الغامضة و التي ليس لها علاقة ب�... more�لمضوع.
review 2: In that typically French way, this is a novel in which not a great deal happens. But it moved me deeply - I could empathise with Mathilde's despair, and thought Vigan's description of a woman bullied at work, and worn down by life, was spot on. Throw in Thibault's self-loathing and Paris as the third character in the triangle and for me you have a five-star read. The depressive tone won't be for everyone, but for me this book was outstanding. There is something comforting in amongst the despair. No one does this better than the French. less
