review 1: I highly recommend this book to anyone between 8 - ?? who loves mysteries. Colophon Letterford loves the fact that her family is in the publishing business and her father is in charge of the Letterford and Sons Publishing which allows her to live in the mansion in Manchester, Georgia that was built in 1876 by her great-great grandfather and also live in the house in England during the summer. But someone is trying to destroy her father's position and if he does not sign at least four big named authors, someone else in the family will take over the firm and Colophon and her family will have to turn over both house to that member of the family. Just as she begins to search for a clue to what is going on her Uncle Julian, whom she has never met before enters the house. Soon... more Julian and Colophon and off and hunting for clues that lead them from Manchester, GA, to England. This is a thoroughly enjoyable mystery without any secret societies, or strange sects involved. Just current, if not odd to some, family members trying to solve what earlier family members hid before them. I liked the way Colophon and Julian bounced ideas off each other and kept each other grounded. I am looking forward to the second book.
review 2: This was recommended to our library and I thought it sounded intriguing. It was a quick read, fast-paced and well-written. While the prologue was very well done, I did not think the author spent enough time introducing readers to Colophon Letterford, the main character. Sure, we know her age, where she lives, and why she is on this adventure. But overall, we learn a lot more about the other characters than we do about Colophon and it left me wanting just a little more. Overall, good though, and I will read the sequel when it is available. less

A very good mystery with a treasure hunt. Well-written, with some mild suspense.

Great book for fans of 39 Clues, and not as convoluted (sp?).
