review 1: 我很喜欢其中那些关于电影的比喻。战地记者除了分分钟生命受到威胁，很可能很多时候还要作良心的抉择。也许电影才能让他暂时忘却经历与报导过的那些痛楚，和被战争吞噬的身心吧。一边有人时时刻刻有被极刑处死的危险，一边商场拥挤也可以成为有些人们上街游行的理由。世界真是又奇妙，又荒诞啊。
review 2: One of the best nonfiction books I've read in quite some time. Filkins provides an on-the-ground view into the U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq, as well as the conflict in Afghanistan. He provides powerful insight into the experiences of both the permanent inhabitants of those countries and the soldiers fighting there. He has clear views about... more the politics and advisability of the military and diplomatic efforts there, but doesn't let those views get in the way of presenting a well-rounded and (as far as I can tell) objective depiction of those complex, chaotic moments in recent history.
