review 1: Wonderfully written for the first half, but then the carefully drawn plot goes haywire; including poison, insanity and a failed attempt [by Mr. Collins no less] at Lizzy's compromise - all topped off by a very dissatisfying ending! Thus the meager 3-star rating. I think this author shows great promise and I'll be happy to try another of her stories, but for all the effort she put into this adaptation, I can only say she lost me. Sad because I really did love the first part - :(

Ms Oaks masters not only the old-style formal language, but also exhibits mastery over tension, leaving the reader wanting more after every chapter. Her plot lines ... moreare true to character and unpredictable, making this entire reading experience a joy. Additionally, there is ample material for a sequel, which I pray will be as good as the first. less
