review 1: In Nelson's Brand we have the 'bad' boy interested in the 'nice' girl. The nice young woman has been brought in an interesting family dynamic that has adversely affected her when her parents are killed. She comes home to regroup and recoup with a close friend. Meanwhile our male character has sown his 'wild oats' and is quite interested in our young woman. But is he as bad as people believe? In Lonetree Ranchers: Colt we get treated to a young woman who is raising her daughter alone (her choice) and our male character (the father) is injured while the young woman is in attendance at a rodeo. Since there is already a connection between these two characters the situation becomes interesting when our cowboy finds out he's a father.
review 2: I have enjoyed s
... moreome of Diana Palmer's work in the past, but I wasn't exactly thrilled with Nelson's Brand. Having found out it was originally published 20 years ago helped make some sense of why it felt so absolutely terrible. Helpless women who downright refuse to speak up and put themselves and their lover in a horrible position and an egotistical brooding Alpha male are not my preferred content. Not even when I've got my nose stuffed in one of my oldest, guiltiest pleasures: Harlequin novels. I can't even count how many I've read, or remember them all, but I do know I can only remember being this irritated by a couple once or twice before. Don't get me wrong, I actually like the characters. I just think they behave like children too often to be acceptable. And the plot just didn't encourage me to turn the page that well. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great, either. Frankly, I enjoyed Lonetree Ranchers: Colt much more. And I plan on giving it a much better review. less

Liked "Nelson's Brand" the best of the two books within a book. Have read it twice.
