review 1: I loved Skinny. It wasn't run-of-the-mill chick lit. There were twists and turns along the way and an ending no one saw coming. Anyone who ever struggled with any type of body image issues should certainly give this a read. If you have ever grieved the death of a loved one, this one is for you. Anyone who has had self-doubt, questioned their relationship, took the wrong way in life, or pondered "what it all means" this book is for you.
review 2: This book had a wonderful premise, and I will probably read this author's other books, as she writes well. The reason I couldn't finish this book is because the main character was so grossly unlikeable, I loathed her. It had nothing to do with the fact that she cheated on her boyfriend, etc, but the fact that she was s
... moreo hateful towards fat people, and fat kids in particular (for example, when the male counselor shows her a picture of his overweight son, she imagines how perfect he would be, could she trim off all the padding--what. a. bitch.) made me hate her. I couldn't even finish the book because she was so detestable. As an overweight woman, I am *shocked* that this book was traditionally published. Goes to show you how obsessed with skinniness and outward appearances America is. Sorry. less
