The Teacup Novellas
review 1: I liked this book better than the first Teacup Novella. I would probably give it a 3 1/2. It's about a daughter who has to drop out of college to help her father who is a builder. Then the house he has been counting on to keep him out of bankruptcy burns. They discover the fire was set by an arsonist. So she teams up with the local newspaperman--who she hates, but then falls in love with--to find the bad guy. It was cute.
review 2: I probably would not have read this book except that I had already downloaded it before I read the first one. This was a bit better. The dialog was more realistic and a bit more chemistry between the main couple. There were still a few issues though. The who-done-it was pretty obvious even though the reasoning was far-fatch
... moreed. I was annoyed that the shy older man was portrayed as some sort of village idiot. Just because a person chooses not to talk much doesn't mean he can't put together a decent sentence when he wants to. Mostly though, the tragedy in this book was way over the top. One guy's wife had died of cancer and another had passed away in childbirth, one woman's husband had been killed overseas and one guy's daughter had been killed by a drunk driver and there was a bit of suicide and overdosing thrown in as well. It was like the author had a list of ways to kill off young people and wanted to check them all off. Less than halfway through I had lost any sympathy for the characters and started rolling my eyes every time another loss was mentioned. The love story was fairly sweet though and it held my interest to the end. I got it for free and it was definitely worth the time. less
