review 1: Beautiful written story during the time era just after the civil war. Confronts prejudice issues but yet has a mind holding experience of the gift of love. On the down side for me it has some bad language and a detailed love scene. It's a personal preference for me to read the work of authors who do not use dirty language or describe sexual encounters. With that said it is why I gave the book a 4 star rating instead of five.
review 2: I enjoyed The Outer Banks House a lot. The Outer Banks is one of my favorite places to visit, so it was very easy for me to see the scenery and feel like I was there. This book is placed about three years after the end of the Civil War. It is historically accurate and makes you think about how the blacks who were freedmen, were... more treated in the south. It is also an unlikely love story but there is nothing steamy or distasteful about it. less
