review 1: I love the concept of this coffee table book, which contains photographs that represent meals from fifty iconic books. I think this makes a pretty great gift for book lovers. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the author's visual interpretations of the meals, I was disappointed with the commentary provided--the trivia frankly seemed somewhat slapdash and shallow. Also, given that this is a coffee table book of photographs, I would have preferred it in a larger trim size; I thought the small size an odd choice by the publisher.
review 2: I started this book on my Kindle, my dearest love but in this case not up to the task of displaying this book in its full glory on a black and white screen. This delightful collection pairs culinary quotes from works of literature a... morend fiction with photographs recreating the described scenes. I enjoyed the variety and breadth of works was lovely – classic literature, modern classics, and even great children’s works. This was a lovely and charming read and I cannot recommend it highly enough as a light read. less
