review 1: originally read 8/18/2013Title: * Escape from ObsessionAuthor: Dixie Lynn DwyerSeries: The American Soldier Collection, #1Genre: Contemporary Romance/SuspensePublisher: BookstrandFormat: ebookDate/Year: April 26, 2013Reviewed by: ElaineReads*This book was purchased for my own reading enjoyment.Summary from the publisher: Gia Marie Giselli’s boyfriend wanted to share her with his business partner, and she refused. She leaves New York the moment she gets a chance and heads to Houston, Texas. With the help of her cousin Teddy, a detective there, she finds a new home and tries to put her past behind her.In Texas she meets Garrett, Wes, and Gunny McCallister. Her world and impression of ménage relationships are turned upside down. They want her, and as they try to convince... more her that this relationship is serious, some jerk from work attempts to assault her, making all her fears of men resurface. When they finally get through that incident, Gia's past reemerges. Can the McCallisters keep her safe and convince her that true love and compassion don't come in the form of fists, control, and fear?My Musings:Gia is involved with a controlling, abusive man who has isolated her from all her friends. She doesn’t have any family in New York and is too scared to leave him on her own. She is finally able to stand up for herself when Gia’s lover wants to share her with his business partner. She tries to fight them off when they are opportunely interrupted by a rival and she manages to escape. Needless to say, she is terrified of being held between two men.The book continues several months later where Gia has run to her only remaining relative who just happens to be in law enforcement. He is also involved in a menage marriage which apparently in Houston, TX is not that unusual . . . really? Anyway, this gives her the opportunity to observe lovers who are happy in sharing relationships.Which brings us to three former Marine commandos who happen to be brothers. Their fathers are also brothers and married to the same woman. They expect to have a marriage like their fathers and mother and are waiting to find the right woman. So, of course, they all fall in love with Gia . . . a woman who is terrified of being shared. All of this seems very far fetched, but it really does work. Garrett, Gunnar, and Wes are strong, protective, alpha males. They truly care for Gia and are willing to wait until she is ready to develop a relationship with the three of them. To add to her issues, she is being stalked by a coworker who has a reputation for assaulting women, but no one has ever pressed charges.Gia is determined to never be a victim again. She is studying martial arts so that she can protect herself and to build her confidence. Although, she is happy to be living near her cousin and looks to him for safety, she does not expect anyone to take care of her. Even so, she is not too stubborn or stupid to accept help when she needs it. In other words, she is not one of those “too stupid to live” (TSTL) heroines. It is the ending of the book that caused me to rate it as a three rather than a four. All of the plot lines just came together too conveniently to be believable. I cannot say more without spoilers, but the climax was just too pat. My initial reaction was “you’ve gotta be kidding me.” It worked, but it was still jarring.I have read the book twice, once for my own enjoyment and again for review purposes. I have to say I liked it better the second time through. I think I just needed to get used to the author’s style of writing. This is the first book in a series and there were several characters introduced that I look forward to reading about in their own books.Ratings:Overall: 3Sensuality level: 4.5
review 2: **Erotic Ménage a Quatre Romance, M/F/M/M, HEA**Today's review is on Escape From Obsession by Dixie Lynn DwyerThe pages of this book were so H-O-T that my fingers were left burning at the end. Though the odds that three, gorgeous, ex-commando, brothers would fall for the same woman are pretty slim, would you deny yourself such magnificent, glorious, and superb men? I certainly wouldn't! And sure, as a therapist, I feel that there wasn't enough attention placed on the trauma that the Heroine had suffered but hey, it's fiction. Gia Clarke's boyfriend Antonio Pelloni was a real piece of work. Not only did he get off on controlling her, he wants to share her with his friend Valdere. Cornered between the two men, Antonio played on her fears of being alone and her declining self-confidence. Fortunately the police arrived before she was forced to have sex with either one of them, but not before she witnessed Antonio beating a man to death.Six months later, with a new name, Gia Marie Giselli is trying to get her life back on track in Huston, Texas. One evening after work she agrees to go to Casper's, a local bar/restaurant where "the guys are so damn hot." Once there she catches the eye of Garrett McCallister, one of the owner's three sons, and the attraction is instant. But Gia isn't ready to date anyone. Not with the fear she still has of being in the same situation as with Antonio.Later she finds herself face to face with Wes McCallister when she picks up her cousin from football practice, and he is just as hot as his brother. And when she later meets Gunner "Gunny" McCallister her head begins to swim. She's helplessly attracted to all three brothers. With Gia never really being into the Ménage scene, the McCallister men have their work cut out for them and they will do everything in their power to make Gia theirs. We all know that most men have the fantasy of having multiple women in their bed at the same time. So are women any different? Name any heterosexual woman who wouldn't want just one loving, compassionate, and attentive man who loves her? Now times that by three. If truth be told, if given the opportunity, I would totally be willing. If I were to sum up this book in just three words they would be HOT, HOT, HOT!!!!4 of 5 starsAvailable at Amazon less
