review 1: I was drawn to this story for all the rave reviews and while it was a cute, sweet, fluffy read, I just wasn't all that drawn into it. All of the characters, including Mr. Smuggles in his very own dragon costume, were cute. Maybe it was the short length, I don't know. I did find the lack of scene breaks bothersome, but not as much as the sudden time leaps. Namely Adam going from sitting in the coffee shop with his morning coffee to passing by it at the end of the day on his way home. This happened in the same paragraph. It was like a time warp bubble thing happened. I had to read two or three times before I realized it actually happened and he wasn't just thinking it. The second happened when Adam was speaking to his friend Michael. The conversation was one big jum... moreble and it was hard to tell who was speaking. Once I worked my way through those problems, I rather enjoyed the story in general.
review 2: 3.5 stars.Aww this is so adorable and so very unique. Smug is a magic little dragon with a clever little dog who will steal your heart for all of an hour or so that it takes to read this little short.A lovely lighthearted little inbetweener that could do with a sequel or 6 I think. I'm very interested in Smug and his genealogy, and seeing this relationship properly evolve would be a treat! Smug still has many tricks and quirks to be revealed I think ...Plus I want to get back to his lair, it's so cosy in there! Gimme more please? less
