review 1: I would have liked to have given this 3.5 stars. I enjoyed the historic and religious aspects and it was a well written, fast moving tale and very easy to read despite the length of the book. I didn't like the violence and there were parts of the book which I felt could have been left out as I didn't think they added much to what was already a complex story. This was a Book Club choice and not one I would have chosen to read but overall I'm glad I did.
review 2: What a let down. Firstly, over 700 pages in length. The dedicates too much of this book to providing a tourist and historical guide.
