review 1: It's Sean's turn to be the main character in the story. Although I liked this story I do think it is the weakest of the three. Sean's misery is constantly compounded by Coop's inane ideas. How that boy gets his two friends to go along with his crazy schemes is beyond my ken. Their gullibility is helpful for getting them into scrapes, though. This time they are trying to win a horror movie contest. The prize they are seeking is $50,000 and WHEN they win, they are going to give the money to Sean so he can help his parents pay for an addition to their home, so he doesn't have to share a room with his twin sister on the birth of their new sibling. A lot of the antics in this book are just a stretch too far out for belief but it is a fun romp.

... morebly my least favorite of Calame's trio (so far), CALL THE SHOTS is still pretty damn good. Not as funny as the first two, but there were still plenty of laughs. Sean, the narrator for this book, is the quieter of the three friends--the one who's the most uncertain about himself. I got a little bogged down in the detailed movie filming scenes, but the conclusion made it all worth it. Sean's personal journey was pretty sweet and while I totally called the girl he'd end up with, I was still a-flutter during their love confession. Great fun! less

This one stressed me out. But I still love Sean, Coop, and Matt.

DFN: not in the mood for the antics of teenage boys, apparently
