review 1: Somewhere I had found this title and added it to my 'want to read' list of books. I wasn't able to find it at the library, so later it got added to my Amazon Kindle wish list. I keep the list of available kindle versions just in case the price gets really low. In this case, I found this book was free of charge on Christmas eve, so I downloaded it right then.Between two Kindle titles, this one caught my interest to read it first. This was a pretty sweet seasonal story to read this time of year, because it is set at Christmas time. Lots of things are happening in the small town and we meet a very likable cast of characters from several families in town. There's a shoplifter in Macalbee's store just before Christmas and who it is causes quite a stir. Milton tries to handle it ... morehimself before it becomes public knowledge. The police chief, Buddy is a good friend of his but he has some shocking news that evening too. His little girl Shirley Ann is pregnant by the doctor's son. His father in law is in the hospital and before Christmas comes Milton will be there too. Milton has been keeping a secret that is about to come unraveled and involves a part of Buddy's family.A little bit predictable but all in all enjoyable. A very pleasant surprise from a musical artist. The writing was great and I loved the title.
review 2: This was a quick and easy read that I chose for the Christmas holiday. It was a nice book with interesting and realistic characters. There is a good bit of jumping back and forth between two time periods, and the characters (and the relationships between them) can be a little hard to keep straight...but by halfway, I was following it a lot easier. I especially liked the ending...it was "feel good" yet realistic. Definitely recommend :) less
