review 1: Wow! I don't know what to say about this book. You will read every word in spite of the horrific situations. And I am very familiar with over half of the towns mentioned - a little creepy. Somehow I feel like this is based on some truth. Also, the town mentioned in Tennessee (pop. 3700) is the same town mentioned in Jodi Picoult's "Leaving Time" which is the location of the elephant sanctuary. Coincidence?! I think not!
review 2: This is an amazingly well-written book. It grabbed me from the first words and didn't let go until the last ones. The scene of place---the small towns of Ohio and West Virginia---are captured so vividly it can make you cry.
