The Warrior King
review 1: I finally finished the 4th book in the series and found out who the true king was. Trey, the brother who was almost killed in the 2nd book and healed by a Pict healer finds himself again in the presence of this healer. They handfast in the presence of soldiers so Trey can protect her. But they find they like being married to each other as they travel and have many little misadventures. In the end, the truth comes out about the true king. The great battle doesn't even take up a whole chapter. So ends this fun and light series of love stories in the highlands.
review 2: Poorly researched history, jarringly contemporary dialogue... sometimes..., slapdash plot quickly resolved at the end, and completely devoid of helpful description. I'm just supposed to infer
... more their surroundings from the title, I suppose. There were some lovely bits of banter if I forgot they were intended to be in the 1000s, and I liked the plot device of the Pictish seer and healer powers, but think the author may have relied on them too heavily. less
