Now that we are on the other side of my wishes for all of the nominees at the 2018 Critics Choice Awards I have one more wish list, for hostess Olivia Munn. Usually ahead of nominations we know who will host the ceremony that year, but I guess the Critics were still solidifying who they wanted and waited until last week to announce that Olivia Munn would act as the hostess of this years ceremony. I am interested in seeing what Olivia will bring style wise over the course of the night. When it comes to her taste I usually either love or loathe. She can be very up and down with her style and I am hoping from red carpet to the final credits that every look that Olivia wears over the course of the 2018 Critics Choice Awards are really amazing. Kicking off the night on the red carpet wearing this dark emerald green velvet Elie Saab Fall 2017 Couture gown which features lace paneled car wash pleats, long lace sleeves, and a high ribbon detailed neck would definitely in making sure that she does just that. Olivia VERY rarely wears couture on the red carpet and has never worn Elie Saab before, but what better way to kick off a major night of fashion than with this romantic, lightly medieval gown? Add a romantic updo, defined eyes, a rose pink lip, rose gold and gunmetal Coach 1941 ‘Prairie Rivets’ studded sandals, and a pair of simple Fred Leighton pave rose cut diamond stud earrings all would ensure that Olivia does kick the night off in the most glamorous way possible. Over the course of the night I want to see Olivia give us some really great wardrobe changes. I would honestly expect Olivia to host something like the Teen Choice Awards, Peoples Choice Awards, or MTV Movie & Television Awards and I would just pick cocktail look after cocktail look for her. So picking nothing but gowns for Olivia to wear over the course of the night at the Critics Choice Awards was a little difficult. To kick the show off I would LOVE to see Olivia grace the stage wearing this tobacco Pamella Roland Fall 2017 RTW chiffon overlay gown which features some beading on the halter straps and a daring plunging neckline. I remember sitting front row at this show and being totally in love with the flowing drama of this gown. It has a dramatic train and a low back and I think that for the opening of this show that this would be a perfect drama moment, especially when finished with loose waves, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of nude Schutz ‘Cadey Lee’ sandals, and 18k gold Bulgari diamond and ruby earrings.
I have been really hesitant about putting Marchesa in any of my wishes for any red carpet recently. I have been a champion for not punishing Harvey Weinstein’s wife Georgina Chapman or her brand. We haven’t seen a single star wearing Marchesa since Demi Moore wore the brand last September. Olivia has worn several Marchesa gowns in the past so I feel like there might be a chance that she could be the brave soul to wear the brand for the first time since the whole Weinstein scandal came to light. I really do think that Olivia would look so incredibly lovely wearing this azalea pink Marchesa Spring 2018 RTW corded lace gown which features a 3D corsage neckline, velvet ribbon wrapped around the waist, and a high low hem with a train at back. This is a totally romantic, feminine, and flirty gown and I think that while Olivia has a typically sexy sense of style that this gown would be a really beautiful moment for her. Add a romantic updo, defined eye, rose pink lip, azalea pink Aquazzura ‘Desert Rose’ sandals, and pair of simple De Grisogono pink tourmaline and diamond drop earrings to really make this be completely beautiful and romantic.
For a modern femme fatale moment I went to this bold electric blue Christian Siriano Pre-Fall 2018 sweetheart neck gown which features thin straps, a daring dip at the neck, sexy split, and a fit and flare silhouette. This is a really modern glam, sleek, and sexy moment and I think that it is the most ‘Olivia’ of all of the silhouettes that I have picked for her to wear while hosting the 2018 Critics Choice Awards. A pair of statement electric blue Aquazzura ‘Jaipur’ embroidered sandals, a sleek bun, smokey eyes, a red lip, and gorgeous carved emerald and sapphire Cartier earrings all would make sure that Olivia another amazing moment on the Critics stage.
Last but not least I went to a vintage moment for Olivia. I can’t say that I know of anytime that Olivia has ever worn a vintage gown on the red carpet, but I have been LOVING vintage recently and so have many stars over the last year or so. I think that ending the night wearing this peach 1970’s Givenchy Haute Couture one shoulder draped goddess gown (which originally belonged to Betsy Bloomingdale) would be a really chic way to round out the night. This gown is the ultimate definition of chic and I think that for the stage of a major awards show I think that Olivia would definitely make it a major moment. Add romantic waves, a defined eye, rose pink lip, gold Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Dionne’ sandals, and a pair of H. Stern moonstone drop earrings to really ensure that Olivia finishes the night in high style.
The 2018 Critics Choice Awards will take place on Thursday January 11, 2018.
