review 1: I love historical fiction because they entertain while they educate. I wanted to know more about da Vinci and his Italy and this book gives us a good glimpse into this time period through the eyes of a young girl, Mona Lisa. The writing is good which makes me want to check out her other books. The Smile is a love story too so it has a modern appeal to grab the attention of the young readers of today.
