review 1: Jordan Masters Ryan, is a LA Cop, a widow, a daughter, a sister, a friend. She blames herself for her husband's death in a convenience store robbery. Cole McCall, is a CEO, a rancher, a widower, a son, a brother, a friend. He blames himself for his wife's death in a freak car accident. What do these two have in common besides guilt, they were once best of friends until the Masters family left Texas. Now, Jordan and her sister Kerri have been recruited to go to Texas for Mr. and Mrs. McCall's 40th Anniversary, but Jordan doesn't know what to make of the once fun-hearted Cole. Jordan knows first-hand, what it's like to be left by the one you love and trying to move on, and she's determined to help Cole do just that. Can two broken hearts heal each other and become one full f... moreunctioning, loving couple? Donna Michaels is a fabulous author. I loved this book, and I want more Cole! The first few chapters are not romantic at all, give it a little time it is coming. Miss Michaels love scenes are that, they are not full of vulgarity, you can honestly see the love pouring off the pages. The author also gives us great 'insider' info as to what the characters are feeling. Of course, you can't have a love story like this without some fun and games and laughter, thanks to two male characters. Just when things are getting heavy, out they pop to take the edge off. All in all, I'd recommend this book to any friend who has a soft spot for Cowboys, or thinks that CEO's can't be anywhere but the Board room!
review 2: First of all let me say that I love books with modern day cowboys, and I also love when the characters carry over into the next book. With that being said, I knew that I couldn't go wrong with the Harland County books. This book is the story of Jordan and Connor, who grew up together, went their separate ways, and then fate threw them back together. Although, they have been through a tragic and similar loss in their lives, they have handled it differently. Jordan is beautiful, strong, and determined. Cole is a handsome, sexy CEO/cowboy, who has let the loss of his wife turn him in to a bitter, cold, workaholic. Jordan cannot stand to see her old friend in this condition, and is determined to see him back to his old self. It's a good thing that Jordan is a patient woman because Cole would try the patience of a saint. Not saying that I am a saint, but he sure tried mine a couple of times while I was reading this book. Their parents decide to do a little match making, knowing that Jordan and Connor were close at one time, and thus the fun begins. This book is loaded with real life situations, humor, love, attitude, good friends and family. Great job, Donna Michaels, you sure know how to handle those cowboys. If you love hot, sexy, brooding cowboys and the strong women that tame them, this book is for you. less
